Frenchman Pierre Gasly declared that Alpha Tauri have to score points with both cars as often as possible as they battle Haas and hope to chase down Alfa Romeo in the Constructors’ Championship.
Ahead of Round 17 of the year in Singapore, the Italian team has yet to achieve a double-points finish after 16 rounds of the 2022 season and Gasly is hopeful of the teams recent positive trend continuing.
“We scored points in two of the three races, and we must continue with this more positive trend that began back in Spa,” said the 26-year-old.
“We have to aim to score points with both cars as often as possible, even if it’s not easy,” the ex-Red Bull driver added.
Gasly will be paired with Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda, the 22-year-old’s contract having been extended for third season ahead of the 17th race of 2022.
“I am very happy that my contract has been extended for another season, I was fairly confident that I would be staying, but there was a bit of stress until it was confirmed,” explained the former F2 driver.
And while Tsunoda says he is excited to compete in Singapore for the first time, the Japanese driver feels it could be a tough weekend for him.
“I don’t think Singapore will be an easy event for me as it will be my first time at this circuit, but I will just try to build up lap by lap during practice with my usual process for a new track. It will be difficult.”
