Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas says Alfa Romeo have a job to finish in the 2022 Formula 1 season finale in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
Bottas, who joined the Hinwill-based team for 2022, has scored points in the last two races after going more than three-months without any points.
“I can consider myself pleased with the job that has been done. The performances we have been showing over the last few races gave us a great confidence boost,” said the 33-year-old, who won around the Yas Marina circuit in 2017 for Mercedes.
“Our job is not done yet: if we keep up with the momentum and the good pace we had in Brazil, we can again get in the mix with the midfield and secure the position we want in the standings,” the Finn added.
Alfa Romeo have a five-point advantage over closest challengers Aston Martin heading into the final round of the season.
Chinese driver Zhou Guanyu is aiming to his bit for the team, as his rookie year comes to a close, saying: “I’ve enjoyed this journey so far and I am keen to have one final good result this year to repay the team of this first season together.”
Zhou has performed well in his first season at Formula 1 level, but has suffered the majority of Alfa Romeo’s unreliability, which has allowed Aston Martin to be as close as they are.
The 23-year-old has though done enough to earn a second season with Alfa Romeo in 2023.
