What Does An Ex-Insider Say About Fred Vasseur At Ferrari?
Silly season being long over, the silly rumours, truth be told, don’t often end, which is why some have been of the view that Fred Vasseur could move on from Ferrari. And interestingly, this estimation comes with the famous French team principal of the stunning Italian stable having taken over the reigns for no more than a single season.
Is that fair to say then that Fred Vasseur is a goner from Ferrari or will it make sense to submit the rumours to the dustbin?
Thoughts on Fred Vasseur
Only, the latter, at this point in time, makes sense as per a former Ferrari insider, Kees Van de Grint, who denying the rumours about Fred Vasseur had the following observations to make:
“I think Vasseur has done a little better management.”
This former Ferrari insider would also be of the view that Fred Vasseur has a few interesting problems to tackle, which he alluded, would be tackled differently from how a certain Mattia Binotto would have dealt with. He would add the following:
“But I think – and maybe he’s going to change that now – Ferrari still has a problem,” he added. “To look at the car, some races were better than the Red Bull, some also much less than the Red Bull. But over the whole year, of course, it was the strategy that didn’t look like anything, and they also lost a lot of points with wrong choices. So I think if I were in his shoes, I would work on that first, and strategic teamwork, of course. You’ve also seen incidents where there were wrong tires again and everything.”
That being said, the man whose presence in the Ferrari camp adds a level of experience and wiseness, Fred Vasseur himself had the following to say when enquired about the status of the next season’s car and what might it bring to the stable? Whether it can be a new machine or just an improvement over the predecessor: the 2023 World Championship!
He had the following to say:
“We are changing 95% of the components of the car. Perhaps you can consider that it’s a revolution. I don’t know if it will be.”
Across the world of the fastest-form of single-seater Motor Racing, the biggest question come 2024 will be whether the likes of Mercedes and Ferrari can rise to the challenge and finally find a way to remain at the front of the grid instead of being at the mercy of the points that the big bully of the grid, Red Bull throw away?
It’s a big bad world, isn’t it- Formula 1?
It’s a world where there’s little space for mediocrity and where team management, strategic calls and a speedy car can together form a big triumvirate instead of just a fast car alone. Wouldn’t you agree, Mr. Fred Vasseur?
