F2 Belgium Wrap; Tsolov’s streak snapped, Invicta sweep Spa & León’s bizarre disqualification

• Although Nikola Tsolov’s three-race winning streak ended in Belgium, the F2 championship leader extended his advantage over Gabriele Minì to 27 points with fourth and third-place finishes across the weekend.
• Invicta Racing completed a clean sweep at Spa as Joshua Duerksen won the Sprint before Rafael Câmara claimed the Feature Race, marking the team’s second consecutive Belgian Grand Prix weekend sweep.
• Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak celebrated his maiden Formula 2 podium after post-race penalties and Noel León’s disqualification elevated the ART rookie to second place in the Feature Race.

Tsolov’s streak snapped

Nikola Tsolov was the dominant force at Silverstone, sweeping the weekend and claiming a third consecutive victory. However, that winning streak came to an end at Spa-Francorchamps.

A fourth-place finish in the Sprint and third in the Feature ensured the championship leader still extended his advantage over Gabriele Minì, with the gap between the title protagonists now standing at 27 points.

The Italian was forced to retire in the pit lane during the Sprint before recovering to finish fifth in the Feature after qualifying a lowly 16th for the weekend.

Duerksen holds off Stenshorne in the Sprint

A last-lap shootout in the Spa Sprint saw Joshua Duerksen hold off Martinius Stenshorne to claim his second Formula 2 victory of the 2026 season.

The Invicta driver started fourth on the reverse grid and capitalised on a poor getaway from Roman Bilinski alongside him. Polesitter Sebastián Montoya, meanwhile, made an excellent launch to lead ahead of Stenshorne.

Stenshorne first used the slipstream down the Kemmel Straight to pass the Colombian into Les Combes, before Duerksen attempted a move on the PREMA driver into the Bus Stop chicane.

Montoya held on initially, while Stenshorne took the lead soon after. Duerksen and Dino Beganovic then broke clear of the fifth-placed Tsolov.

The race was neutralised after Cian Shields crashed into the barriers at Turn 7 following contact with Ritomo Miyata.

Following the restart, Paraguayan driver Duerksen snatched the lead from Stenshorne into Les Combes and survived another Safety Car restart to secure victory ahead of Stenshorne and Beganovic.

Câmara seals Invicta’s Spa sweep

Feature polesitter Rafael Câmara claimed his second Formula 2 victory of the season, completing an Invicta sweep of the Spa weekend following Duerksen’s Sprint success.

It also marked the second consecutive year that Invicta had swept the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.

The Feature proved action-packed, with the Brazilian losing the lead at the start before having to navigate a red-flag interruption.

The race was halted following a heavy crash for Laurens van Hoepen at Turn 9, with the Dutchman climbing out of his Trident uninjured.

Following the restart, Câmara had to fight his way back through the field after Noel León inherited the effective race lead by pitting under the Safety Car before the red flag.

León was caught out by the Brazilian at La Source, allowing Câmara to reclaim the lead for the first time since the opening lap.

Câmara won the time-certain race, while León and Alexander Dunne both received track-limits penalties that dropped them out of podium contention. Thai driver Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak inherited his maiden Formula 2 podium, finishing second ahead of championship leader Tsolov.

León’s bizarre disqualification

While the Mexican had already lost a potential podium finish after receiving a five-second penalty for repeated track-limits violations, his day became even more disastrous when he was disqualified from the Feature results altogether.

It was found that a non-operational person had been using a team headset with a microphone in the pit lane during the red flag, breaching the Formula 2 Sporting Regulations.

The incident occurred after one of León’s guests accidentally picked up the wrong headset, which had been designated for team personnel.

Despite the inadvertent nature of the mistake, the stewards took a dim view of the breach and disqualified Car 5 from the final Feature classification.

Inthraphuvasak’s breakthrough podium

Following a challenging start to the season and missing the Montreal round, ART rookie Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak finally converted his pace into a breakthrough result.

After qualifying second, the Thai driver capitalised on his track position at the start of the Feature to snatch the lead from polesitter Câmara.

He produced a composed drive amid the chaos of the red flag to secure his maiden Formula 2 podium with a second-place finish.

Speaking after the race, the rookie expressed his delight at both the result and the weekend as a whole.

“I feel really good. I’m super happy overall with how the weekend went, especially on Sunday,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“Finally I got a good result and it has been coming for a while now. But to finally put it together is a great feeling. The team definitely deserves it.

“We’ve been working really hard and they’ve been pushing really hard since the beginning of the season. We’ve had a tough season so far, but the potential has always been there. So to finally get the result that the team and I deserve, it’s a really good feeling.”
