Who’s Won the Most Singapore Grand Prix?

Few drivers have ever tamed the streets of Singapore with the same mastery as Sebastian Vettel. His record at the Marina Bay Circuit is not just impressive, it is a benchmark that inspires awe and envy in equal measure.

The four-time World Champion remains the most successful driver in the history of the Singapore Grand Prix, with five victories to his name, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, and 2019. No other competitor, past or present, has matched that tally.

But dominating Singapore is no ordinary feat. The floodlit street circuit is one of Formula 1’s greatest challenges: narrow, unforgiving, and physically exhausting. To win here requires not only speed but also supreme concentration and resilience across nearly two hours of racing. Vettel, more than anyone else, made Marina Bay his playground.

A Hat-Trick of Glory

During his Red Bull years, Vettel achieved something no other driver has managed—three consecutive victories at Singapore (2011–2013). At the height of his dominance, he appeared untouchable, brushing aside a grid that included giants such as Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, and Kimi Räikkönen.

In those years, Vettel and the Singapore Grand Prix seemed to mirror one another: electrifying, relentless, and utterly dominant.

Triumphs in Red

Vettel’s success was not confined to Red Bull. He remains the only driver to win in Singapore with two different teams, adding two more victories in Ferrari red.

His 2015 win was a masterclass. Starting from pole with a blistering 1:43.885, Vettel controlled the race to beat former teammate Daniel Ricciardo by 1.4 seconds, with Kimi Räikkönen completing the podium.

Four years later, in 2019, Vettel delivered what many consider one of his finest career victories. Starting third behind Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen, he kept his composure through a chaotic opening phase that saw collisions involving Ricciardo, Russell, Sainz, and Hulkenberg. A perfectly timed pit stop and relentless pace allowed him to leapfrog Leclerc, ultimately leading a Ferrari 1–2 under the lights.

The sight of Lewis Hamilton congratulating Vettel after the race remains etched in fans’ memories, a gesture of respect for the man many dubbed the “Lion of Singapore.”

Singapore Grand Prix Legacy of Brilliance

Vettel’s five wins at Marina Bay cement his place as the circuit’s greatest ever driver. His blend of speed, intelligence, and composure under pressure set him apart in one of Formula 1’s most unforgiving arenas.

Some call him a fabulous multiple World Champion. Others hail him as a once-in-a-generation talent. Either way, one truth is undeniable: there can only ever be one Sebastian Vettel.
