The Formula 1 season is just about to begin, and that means all 20 drivers will be looking to get off to a fast start. The first race is the Bahrain Grand Prix, so who is the current favourite to win, and what do you need to know before the event?

When Is The Bahrain Grand Prix?

The Bahrain Grand Prix will be the opener to the 2024 Formula 1 season, this year starting on 29th February 2024 and concluding on the 2nd March 2024. These dates have been chosen to ensure that Sunday can be kept as a non-working day, in accordance with Ramadan.

Practice races will run at 11:30 am and 3 pm on the 29th of February, and at 12:30 pm on the 1st of March. The qualifying race will then start at 4 pm on the first of March. The race should start on Saturday the 2nd of March at 6 pm local time, which will be 3:00 pm GMT.

Who Is The Current Favourite To Win The Bahrain Grand Prix?

There are several different teams that you need to keep an eye on when it comes to this race. Some of the biggest names will be coming to open the season, and so it really could be anybody’s game.

Currently, Max Verstappen is considered to be the safest choice when it comes to a winner according to odds provided by betting site Betfree. With his history of winning races, he is one of the most obvious picks when it comes to potentially making a bet on the race. If you are hoping to secure a safer win, then he is going to be the one that you should choose.

Of course, he is not going to be the only one on the circuit, and there are several other drivers who are looking to be real competition for him this time around.  For example, Sergio Perez for Red Bull is shaping up to be a serious contender, and so a bet on him could potentially net you a profitable payout.

As well as him, drivers such as Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and Lewis Hamilton are all looking to be potential winners at this event. Of course, as this is the opener to the season, they will all want to start off on the right foot.

What Are The Odds On Potential Winners?

At the time of writing, the odds on the above drivers look like this:

Max Verstrappen: -250

Sergio Perez: +900

Lando Norris: +1400

Charles Leclerc: +1600

Lewis Hamilton: +1600

As mentioned above, if you are looking to make the safest bet, then you are going to want to place yours on Verstappen. If you want to go for a riskier bet that has the potential to pay more out, then betting on any of these other drivers may be the way to go.

You will need to check to see exactly what odds are offered for each driver on the grid. It’s actually a good idea to shop around, and see who are offering the best odds right now. Some sites will be offering specific deals on the upcoming Grand Prix, so take a look for those as well to get even more out of your bet.

The History Of The Bahrain Grand Prix

The Bahrain International Circuit first became an F1 circuit in 2004, and has been a part of the competition ever since. It was designed by Hermann Tilke, and his design for this circuit has made it great for both competition and testing as well.

When it comes to driving the course, the runs to Turns 1 and 4 are always the best places for overtaking, as well as the downhill hair pin on Turn 8. With a braking zone in the slowing the double left-hander of Turns 9 and 10, many drivers have been caught out by this and being involved in lock ups over the years.

On the inaugural race, Michael Schumacher took first place, with Rubens Barrichello, Mark Webber and Fernando Alonso all giving him fierce opposition.

During the Grand Prix this year, drivers will have to be able to compete even with potential issues such as wide temperature fluctuations between sessions, high winds, and racing under floodlights. Even with these issues though, many feel that races at the circuit are some of the most exciting during the season. As such, you will need to be sure not to miss any of the action.

Now you have all the basics about the Bahrain Grand Prix. With these odds, you can start planning who gets your bet, and who you feel will give you the best return. With all the dates and times available as well, you can be sure not to miss any of it.
