Charles Leclerc And His Ferrari Life

When asked recently to talk about his Ferrari life and just what importance does the famed Italian team holds to him, the following is what Charles Leclerc had to say:

“Do I want to win World Championships? Of course, this is the same for everybody, but do I want to change my place with anyone? No, I don’t.”

He would also underline the central theme of his current Ferrari stint, which truth be told, the critics as also die-hard fans would agree is his primary goal:

“I have always been dreaming of being a Formula One driver, and even more so with Ferrari.”

Whether or not that dream is going to come true and if so, then how soon, there is a thing for certain and it is that Charles Leclerc, a born racer, is fully committed to his Scuderia feeling. How so?

Well, go nowhere else but visit the following quote of the current driver of SF #16:

“It’s a bit of a family feeling now, it’s been so many years I have been within the team, whether it is as an actual race driver for Ferrari or at the Ferrari Driver Academy in the years before.”

Surely, 2023, it ought to be said, was a difficult year for the man from Monaco, he finished fifth on the Drivers standings behind Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso and would actually score as many points as the famous Spaniard.

But even then, the recently concluded Formula 1 World Championship season had its positives for the Monegasque.

Charles Leclerc scored no fewer than 6 podiums, which is more than what his own teammate Carlos Sainz achieved. That is not all.

Charles Leclerc wasn’t that bad to be honest in 2023

Charles also scored what could possibly be described as the overtake of the season; his brilliant last lap move on Sergio Perez at the sport’s maiden Las Vegas Grand Prix, the third Formula 1 race to take place in the United States.

At one point, Leclerc all but seized the P3 from Sainz at Monza, home to the Italian Grand Prix and Ferrari’s home racing event. In the end, he had to contend with a ballsy P4, which wasn’t too bad in that both Ferrari drivers brought home useful points in front of the wailing Tifosi.

Next year, if the car is good and can speed up and suit the driving style of the man described as Ferrari’s main man, then surely Charles Leclerc would be able to pull out a few aces from his sleeve.

Leclerc will then also hope to take the title fight to any of the Red Bull driver, which quite frankly, might just be Max Verstappen, now a triple world champion and someone who will likely have the edge on his teammate if Perez can’t pull up his socks.

But all said and done, what will be interesting to watch in 2024 will be the battle that Charles Leclerc could possibly have with Carlos Sainz Jr., the latter having had a decent last season, although not the best of season ends given his last three races.

Will Leclerc finally rise to the occasion and be a worthy contender at the front of the grid or will familiar disappointments prevail again? Truth be told, the man whose heart beats for Ferrari will certainly hope for the former.
