It’s Godzilla! Haas reveal unprecedented new collaboration with the ‘King of the Monsters’
The TGR Haas F1 Team have perhaps revealed the most unique and unusual collaborations in the history of the sport, teaming up with perennially loved ‘King of the Monsters’ in Godzilla.
An unprecedented partnership sees Haas link up with iconic Japanese studio TOHO CO., LTD., which is the home of Godzilla and what will be a season-long collaboration. Due to make its debut at the Japanese Grand Prix.
“This is truly an extraordinary opportunity to showcase our brand to new audiences, and it’s a first for both TGR Haas F1 Team and TOHO,” shared Haas Team Principal Ayao Komatsu in an official statement.
“It’s an honour to bring a global icon such as Godzilla to this sport and activate across an important year for the franchise. We want our fanbases to combine and celebrate with us, as there will be lots to engage with this season.”
While Senior Managing Executive Officer and Chief Godzilla Officer from TOHO CO., LOT., in Keiji Ota echoed that sentiment of being honoured by the unique partnership.
“Godzilla has come to represent indomitable power and resilience, a spirit that deeply resonates with the TGR Haas F1 Team’s determination to constantly break through barriers.
“Through this collaboration, get ready for Godzilla to rampage on the world’s fastest stage!
“We promise to bring an unprecedented experience that will excite fans of both Godzilla and the TGR Haas F1 Team all around the world.”
Prior to the Japanese Grand Prix weekend which begins March 27, there will be a special edition livery revealed on March 24 in Tokyo. Before heading to the United States in October, to coincide with the theatrical release of Godzilla Minus Zero and Haas’ home grand prix.
Integrated branding, with race weekend activations and limited edition merchandise has been teased also ahead of the Japanese and United States Grands Prix. With the intention to engage fans of both motorsport and pop culture globally.
What makes this collaboration from Haas and Godzilla incredibly unique for F1, is that previous tie-ups between Formula 1 teams and blockbuster film franchises have only been limited to one-off campaigns.
Red Bull’s 2005 collaboration with Star Wars for the release of Revenge of the Sith and Superman Returns in 2006 at subsequent Monaco Grands Prix standout. While Alpine ran a one-off livery at Spa in 2024 ahead of Deadpool & Wolverine making its box-office release, as well as its drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon wearing helmets inspired by the titular characters.
