“I Can Get You Arrested”: George Russell Hatches Hilarious Conspiracy To Keep Kimi Antonelli Away From United States GP
George Russell has joked about getting his Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli arrested as a last-resort tactic in their Formula 1 championship battle. The British driver made the remark during an on-stage fan event at the Circuit of the Americas ahead of the United States Grand Prix on Sunday, October 25.
According to RacingNews365, Russell said, “I could take you [Antonelli, 20] drinking. Actually, this could be a good way I can try and beat you in the championship. I can get you arrested on Sunday night and then…”
The comment prompted laughter and gasps from the crowd because Texas law prohibits people under 21 from drinking alcoholic beverages.
Kimi Antonelli Can Snatch Title From George Russell at United States GP
Russell arrived in Austin trailing Antonelli by 102 points in the drivers’ standings. The gap leaves the British driver in a difficult position as he tries to prevent his young teammate from becoming the youngest Formula 1 world champion.
Antonelli has an opportunity to win the championship this weekend in Texas. However, the odds are stacked against the Italian. Not only does he need to win the race, but he also needs Russell to finish ninth or lower and Lewis Hamilton to finish fifth or lower.

All these permutations and combinations make it unlikely that Antonelli will walk away with the championship trophy from Austin. However, the gap to Russell and Hamilton makes it a matter of ‘when’ instead of ‘if’ Antonelli will win the title.
F1 Might Adjust Podium Celebrations for Kimi Antonelli
Champagne celebrations are part of Formula 1 tradition. At 20, however, Antonelli remains below Texas’ legal drinking age of 21, which could affect how he celebrates if he finishes among the top three at the Circuit of the Americas.

The situation has a precedent from earlier in Antonelli’s career. Earlier this year, at the Japanese Grand Prix, he was 19 and below Japan’s legal drinking age of 20. He received a non-alcoholic substitute during the podium celebrations.

Meanwhile, Russell can find some relief that Antonelli hasn’t managed to top the timings so far this weekend in the free practice sessions. It remains to be seen how far the Briton can extend his teammate’s wait for the championship trophy.
