Former Ferrari Engineer Riccardo Corte Joins Grove Racing for 2026 Supercars Season
After more than a decade in Formula 1 with Ferrari, engineer Riccardo Corte has confirmed his departure from Maranello ahead of a move to Grove Racing in the Supercars Championship. Corte will take on the role of race engineer for rising star Kai Allen in the 2026 season.
Corte, who has worked with some of the biggest names in motorsport, said he was excited to begin a new chapter in Australia’s premier touring car series.
“I’m really proud to be joining Grove Racing at such an exciting time for the team,” Corte said. “The progress they’ve made in recent seasons is impressive, and the Bathurst 1000 win shows what’s possible with the right people and mindset.
“After 11 years at Ferrari F1, I’m looking forward to bringing that experience into Supercars, helping the team keep pushing forward and maximising every opportunity on track.”
Grove Racing Hails “Major Step Forward”
Stephen Grove, owner of Grove Racing, described Corte’s appointment as a major coup for the team as it looks to build on recent success.
“Riccardo’s appointment represents another major step forward for Grove Racing,” Grove said. “His 11 years of experience at Ferrari F1 and his work as Lewis Hamilton’s performance engineer earlier this year bring incredible depth and understanding to our program.
“We’re proud to welcome him to the team, and it speaks to the calibre of people we have at Grove Racing.”
A Distinguished Career at Ferrari
Corte’s time at Ferrari spanned 11 years, during which he held several key positions. Earlier in 2025, he transitioned into a development role following Riccardo Adami’s promotion to become Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer.
Before that, Corte served as a driver coach for Charles Leclerc and later as performance engineer for Carlos Sainz. When Hamilton replaced Sainz at the start of the season, Corte worked closely with the seven-time world champion before stepping down from his position after the Belgian Grand Prix in July.
His move to Grove Racing marks a significant shift from Formula 1 to Supercars, bringing elite-level engineering expertise to one of Australia’s most ambitious teams.
Hamilton and Ferrari Still Searching for Form
Meanwhile, Hamilton heads into this weekend’s São Paulo Grand Prix still chasing his first podium with Ferrari since leaving Mercedes. Despite flashes of competitiveness including a joint-best finish of fourth in the United States the 40-year-old has struggled for consistency.
Hamilton currently sits sixth in the Drivers’ Championship, just behind teammate Charles Leclerc, while Ferrari remain locked in a tight battle with Mercedes and Red Bull for second place in the Constructors’ standings behind runaway leaders McLaren.
As Ferrari look to end the season on a high, Corte’s departure marks the end of an era at Maranello and the beginning of a new adventure in Australian motorsport.
