Arvid Lindblad has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in F1 in recent times. The British-born driver made his debut with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls (VCARB) as the only rookie on the grid in 2026. Born in August 2007 in London, the 19-year-old represents the Union Jack on the International stage, but comes from a multicultural family. His father carries a Swedish heritage, while his mother comes from an Indian family with Punjabi heritage.
Thus, Lindblad’s background has become an important part of his identity, with the teenager openly embracing his connections to all three countries. “It’s an interesting mix. Quite a rare one, but all three have played a big role in who I am and the way I was raised,” told Lindblad to CNN Sports. He added, “I’m very proud to represent India; it’s a part of who I am, so to bring part of India back to F1 for me is very cool. “
Lindblad’s arrival in F1 carries extra significance for Indian motorsport as he became only the third driver of Indian origin to compete at the premier level of Formula racing, following Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandhok.
Moreover, his connection to the Asian country is also deeply rooted in the story of his maternal grandparents, who moved to the UK following the 1947 partition. The youngster, who only visited India for the first time in his life in 2025, has been immensely motivated by the hard work of his grandparents, and it was a major reason that helped him push to become an F1 driver.
The Junior Career That Put Arvid Lindblad on the Map
Lindblad’s rise through the world of Formula racing has been remarkably swift, with the British driver leaving a lasting impression everywhere he went. After beginning his karting journey, he moved into single-seater racing in 2022, competing in the Italian F4 championship. He soon moved up to the Formula Regional European Championship in 2023.

Lindblad’s breakthrough year came in 2024, when he became the youngest race winner in the history of Formula 3 at the age of 16. He went on to win all three races scheduled at Silverstone the same year, before finishing fourth in the overall rankings.
In 2025, the driver, already a part of Red Bull’s junior driver program, had earned enough faith from the team to be put in the F2 car, where he would once again rewrite history. He became the youngest race winner in series history, after taking the sprint win in Jeddah.
A feature race win in Barcelona further boosted his profile, and he finished sixth overall in the final standings. Having also gained valuable F1 experience through practice sessions throughout the season, he earned enough faith in Red Bull’s eyes to be promoted to F1 with Racing Bulls.
Arvid Lindblad Unveils Special Diwali Helmet for Brazil
Aiming to bring a celebration of his Indian heritage to the F1 grid in Brazil, the teenager has unveiled a specially designed helmet to mark the festival of Diwali.
With the festival of lights falling on the same day as the Interlagos race, the VCARB driver has chosen to celebrate an integral part of his heritage, as he remained closely involved in its creation. With the design, Lindblad hopes to reflect his family roots and the cultural significance of the occasion.

The helmet includes intricate rangoli (a kind of floor art) patterns that draw inspiration from designs that the driver created during previous family celebrations. A diya (an earthen lamp), representing hope, light, and joy, features alongside a lotus flower, symbolizing purity and resilience. A phulkari (flower work) pattern pays tribute to his Punjabi heritage, with fireworks completing the festive theme.
Meanwhile, VCARB will extend the celebrations beyond Lindblad’s helmet, as they plan to incorporate decorations into its garage in Sao Paulo. A ‘Happy Diwali’ sticker will feature alongside the halo of his car, with rangoli, a lotus flower, and a diya being part of the garage decorations.
