Alex Albon makes Williams F1 Team history across three 2026 milestones

The Atlassian Williams F1 Team is celebrating a series of remarkable milestones for Alex Albon during the 2026 Formula 1 season. In Monaco, Alex joined Williams legend Nigel Mansell in the record books after equalling his mark as the driver with the most starts for the team, and he will surpass the 95 race record this weekend in Barcelona, before logging a landmark 100th Williams start in Hungary. As one of the most iconic teams in the sport approaches its 50th anniversary next year, 2026 is the year Alex Albon’s legacy is cemented at Williams.

Monaco Grand Prix – Race 95: Equalling an icon
At the crown jewel of motor racing, Alex drew level with Williams legend Nigel Mansell, equalling the record for the most race appearances for the team with 95 race starts in Williams’ blue. Alex finished the Monaco Grand Prix in P8 after starting P11, adding four points to his season tally.

Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix – Race 96: Record breaker
At the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, Alex lines up for his 96th race start with the team – making him the Williams driver with the most Grand Prix starts in the team’s illustrious history. To mark the milestone, Alex will race in a special-edition helmet designed as a tribute to Nigel Mansell. The bespoke helmet design is a modern replica of Mansell’s iconic 1992 championship winning helmet, paying homage to a true legend of the sport.

Hungarian Grand Prix – Race 100: A century with the team
Hungaroring hosts another milestone as Alex lines up for his 100th Grand Prix start for Williams. To date, less than 30 drivers in Formula 1 history have reached a century of starts with a single constructor – a testament to the partnership built over the past five seasons. By etching his name into Williams history as the driver with the most race starts, Alex cements his place among the team’s most iconic drivers – including World Champions like Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Alain Prost and Jacques Villeneuve.

Since joining Williams in 2022, Alex has been a driving force behind the team’s determination to return to the front of the Formula 1 grid. Over that period he has scored 121 points so far, with a best-placed finish of P5 on multiple occasions – and has his sights on more success to come.

Alex Albon: “It is incredible to think that I’ve raced for this historic team more often than one of the true greats of the sport. Nigel Mansell was an inspiration to me growing up, a true fighter and a legend for both Williams and Formula 1 as a whole. This achievement is about far more than the number itself. Every Grand Prix start over the last five seasons represents the hard work of the entire team at Grove. Through the highs and lows, every race has contributed to the journey Williams has been on. To have my name alongside legendary Williams drivers such as Nigel, Damon Hill, and Ralf Schumacher is a real privilege and a source of immense pride.”

James Vowles, Team Principal: “Records like this don’t happen by accident – they’re the result of years of hard work, trust, and belief on both sides. I am immensely proud of Alex and everything he has achieved with this team. He has earned his place in Williams history, and we’re proud to celebrate these milestones together.”

Nigel Mansell, 1992 Formula 1 World Champion: “I’m so pleased to see Alex reach this milestone – it’s a really special achievement and one he thoroughly deserves. The commitment he has shown to Williams over these past five seasons says everything about him as a driver and as a person. And it’s not just Alex – the whole team is moving in the right direction, and that’s brilliant to see. I have no doubt he’ll go on to make many, many more appearances in Williams colours. As for my wins record – I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
