Sir Lewis Hamilton can be described in many ways, each being as spectacular as the other. To some, he’s Sir Lewis Hamilton, the only current English driver in F1 to have been knighted whilst he’s still very much in the racing business and that too, in the very top draw of Motor-racing. To most others, he’s a splendid world champion whose illustrious career has entertained countless many as much as it has inspired awe.

To Ferrari, a team that he beat fair and square during those years of closely-held tectonic battles from the onset of 2015 until 2020, he’s been a big thorn in the path of the Scuderia outfit, one to which he now himself belongs. And to most others on the grid, whether young drivers who’re solidifying their careers in Formula 1 or those who are rising through the ranks and shall occupy a seat in the 2025 season, Lewis Hamilton is an icon.

But to his Mercedes team, it shan’t be forgotten that Lewis Hamilton has been a bonafide racing demigod and an icon second to none.

He may well have won with the sterling outfit, a racing powerhouse of sorts, an eighth world title had it not been for the cataclysmic events that unfolded at Abu Dhabi back in 2021.

But that’ sport. It breaks you and makes you, too. Upon his last day at Mercedes, that took place a few days back, his long-time team principal, Toto Wolff lavished effusive praise on the great racer and shared his bit.

Noted Motorsport publication Planet F1 had published very recently the speech that was given by none other than Austrian team principal of the Mercedes F1 team, Toto Wolff, wherein the experienced team boss had more than a word of kindness to offer a man who, quite simply, raised the bar of the team and that of mesmerising performances at the Woking-based outfit.

As part of the tribute or ode spoken on Sir Lewis Hamilton, the following is what Toto Wolff specifically highlighted on a man who together with Mercedes, raised a toast to winning 6 world titles and crossed the envy-inspiring mark of over 100 F1 Grands Prix victories. Would anything else get better, one is ought to ask.

However, some key excerpts form the tribute said by Wolff on Sir Lewis Hamilton and they include the following wonderful and heartening lines:

“The name Lewis Hamilton will stand for a long time as the greatest. I will be telling my grandchildren to be proud because I was part of Lewis Hamilton’s journey. And that’s something we all can be very proud of.”
