Disappointments teach us a lot in that in their lair of negativity, we understand the true meaning of normality. In other words, it is when we are truly consumed by the negative or the not so good that we understand the emphatic impact of positivity. The value of good!

Only sensible to recollect, therefore, that upon the completion of the Belgian Grand Prix, which if you remember, is F1’s most recent Grand Prix in 2024, George Russell’s very existence dangled between the good and the terrible.

For someone who had driven so well and in utter control all throughout the testing moments of the action-packed Spa-Francorchamps, George Russell was told he was, in fact, disqualified from the race.

That is when, to the world, he had been the first man to cross the checkered flag at Spa, home to the Belgium Grand Prix.

But what followed not long after that triumphant feeling, which quickly dissipated, was the grip of remorse.

The negative, shall we call it?

Which is why, where George Russell is concerned, the forthcoming Dutch Grand Prix of 2024 is such an important race.

It is, after all, not only a race where the man born in King’s-Lynn would like to bounce back, but also leave a lasting impression after the soul-crushing events of Spa’s disqualification owing to the extra bit of weight on the Mercedes car left Russell heartbroken. All of that wasn’t even Russell’s fault, you wouldn’t be wrong to quote.

But while we don’t quite know what is going to be the good, bad or ugly at the forthcoming contest at Zandvoort, it ought to be said, it would make for quite a heartwarming sight to see George Russell return to the podium with a smile.

What is George Russell going to do in what’s next on the cards?

The last that happened was actually at Austria, earlier this year with Russell prevailing in the end albeit with the assistance of some good fortune. The ill-timed collision between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris during the closing events at the Styrian hills sent the latter on course to a DNF while it hurt the Dutchman’s race result.

Russell, the beneficiary of the action-packed but ultimately, calamitous event at Austria stood on top of the podium. He was going to do just that at Spa and later that evening after defending from none other than the great Sir Lewis Hamilton, which is when the disqualification struck and tore down the young driver’s efforts.

It’s precisely the thing that George Russell, who has 118 Grands Prix starts to his name, would like to avoid at the soon-to-begin Dutch GP of 2024.

Surely, while all eyes will be on local boy Max Verstappen to deliver, which if it comes true, would be an incredible fourth win for the Red Bull driver at the venue, but someone like George Russell would be keen to mount a comeback.

A great reason for that is not just the low-key Spa saga. As a matter of fact, if one were to take into consideration the last or previous three race results of the British driver, then it would appear that prior to Belgian GP’s disqualification, there were insipid results at Great Britain and Hungary.

How so?

While Russell had retired at Britain, his home track, the Hungarian GP yielded a pretty okay P8 result in the end. While the Mercedes #44 had prevailed in the end eclipsing the sensational Silverstone track ahead of close rivals McLaren and Ferrari, the man in the other Mercedes #63 had to contend with a DNF.

Moreover, for the sake of his own season’s improvement, the young Briton would like to do good and perform to his best ability at the Dutch GP. After all, he is currently 8th on the Drivers’ Standings for the 2024 season after the completion of 14 rounds. What can the fifteenth Formula 1 race this year bring about for a keen and talented racer?
