What About Hamilton Joining Ferrari Excites Charles Leclerc The Most?
Charles Leclerc will for sure win a world title someday. And that can be said without much of a doubt. At least, that is the feeling of the great impassioned fans who cannot imagine a life sans Ferrari, their young and buzzing talent and the hope for seeing Maranello dazzling in the winning red colours in the course of the future.
But while Leclerc has his backers and why wouldn’t he, for it was the young Monegasque, who in his maiden year in the Scarlett red team, happened to beat the very man at both Spa and Monza whom he’s going to be paired with in another year’s time.
Lest it is forgotten, one of the most exhilarating and interesting seasons in the prime of Motor Racing was the 2019 FIA F1 World championship year wherein Charles Leclerc utterly dominated some races; first the Spa-Francorchamps and later, the track known as the temple of speed: Monza.
At both events, the man who faced the nadir of young Leclerc’s domineering pace that yer was Sir Lewis Hamilton. At times, it’s interesting how life works for real.
Who would have thought then, for instance, that back in 2019, the two men who were daggers drawn at each others on the track would in over half a decade from those events become teammates?
But such is F1. You never say never.
That told, Charles Leclerc recently opened up on the view he has about the great seven-time world champion coming to Ferrari? And what it would mean for the young Monegaque to be driving alongside an icon of the sport; someone who has scored the most number of points in all of F1’s sporting history?
That told, Leclerc, seizing the important moment during the relaxed time of this mid season break offered an interesting perspective about Lewis, which in turns, points to why the 26-year-old is so looking forward to Hamilton driving for Ferrari (a move that’s clearly the talk often on as also off-grid).
“Lewis’ arrival has been in the air for some time, but until there is an official confirmation you can’t be sure,” Leclerc told a popular (translated from Italian). “I knew there was interest from both sides, and in these cases it is very likely that an agreement will be reached. I didn’t ask to know more, it’s not part of my role, but I must say that everyone has always been very open and sincere
In his maiden season at McLaren, which was ages back with Alonso, Hamilton, almost outperformed the mighty Alonso and stat speaking, did actually do. That was when while the two scored exactly the same number of points. Fast forward the present moment.
Not only is the Lewis v Leclerc discussion, therefore, such a key factor for the future at Maranello, this driver pairing, one highly anticipated and exciting, could well be the alliance of this part of the 21st century.
It’s a part where Formula 1’s growth and popularity could well benefit not only from a host of technical regulations but exciting and hopefully, successful driver pairings. Which is something that the Tifosi as well as Charles Leclerc himself would love to see.
