Interview with Bruno Michel
Morning Bruno. It was an incredibly successful, entertaining season this year with no less than six drivers still in it for the championship going into the final race. What was your views on the on the season?
“There was six drivers that could, clinch the championship riding to the last race, mathematically. It was absolutely amazing. I think, this season has been, extremely hard fought for with so many drivers being on the podium. Different drivers being on pole position, different drivers winning races. I think, 28 drivers scored points in the season, which proved that, the level was quite high all together. As you say, when we got to the last race, It was a quite thrilling experience with the fact that we got the winner, on the last corner, of the last lap of the last race, which is always something that is quite incredible. So, all together, I think we had a very, very strong season. And the last race has been a testament to what this season has been for us.”
What sort of recruitment process? Do you have in place for Formula 3? Do you already have people in mind ready to bring in for next season?
“The teams are in charge of recruiting drivers, and we set up category, we put the car in place the calendar, and then it’s up to the teams, to find the drivers and to sign the drivers. This is nothing to do with us. The only thing is, we said that, they need to be atleast 16 years old, and have a grade B licence. We put together the criteria to make sure that the teams are following those criterias, but after that, it’s really up to them most of the time. Now they are taking drivers that are coming from various organisations and Formula 4 directly, that’s the way it’s working. Generally, they have the required level to join. Some are more experienced than others, and some are faster than others. But it’s not up to us to do that.”
With Formula 3, getting increasingly popular and more eyes on the sport, it will be an exciting off season. A new car has already been announced for the 2025 season, with PREMA being the team that the whole grid will want to catch following a dominant period of success in F3.
If there is one man capable of continuing to give us exciting races, that man is Bruno Michel.
