Injured Isack Hadjar To Miss Dutch Grand Prix

Isack Hadjar is set to miss the Dutch Grand Prix, with Red Bull Racing having confirmed a wrist injury to the Frenchman having been sustained during F1’s summer break and that Liam Lawson will deputise alongside Max Verstappen.

Reported first by Dutch outlet De Telegraaf, Hadjar would sit out the Zandvoort weekend and be replaced by former Red Bull Racing driver Lawson – whose Racing Bulls seat would in turn be taken up by reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda.

Oracle Red Bull Racing released a brief statement, simply saying “Oracle Red Bull Racing driver, Isack Hadjar, has sustained a wrist injury during summer shutdown that will prevent him from racing at the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix. We will be welcoming back Liam Lawson who will replace him in RB22 this weekend. The Team wishes Isack a speedy recovery and thanks Liam for stepping in on short notice.”

Likewise, VCARB also released a brief statement at the same time, adding, “Visa Cash App Racing Bulls can confirm that Liam Lawson will race for Oracle Red Bull Racing at the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend due to Isack Hadjar’s wrist injury. As a result of the driver change, Reserve Driver Yuki Tsunoda, will race for Racing Bulls in Zandvoort this weekend, alongside Arvid Lindblad. We thank both Liam and Yuki for their adaptability as the teams prepare for the weekend and we wish Isack a speedy recovery.”

Lawson in 2025 was signed to race alongside Verstappen at Red Bull, before being unceremoniously dumped by the world champions only two events into the season. Tsunoda then replaced the Kiwi, however failed to deliver performances satisfactory enough to warrant keeping the prized seat alongside Verstappen.

After a solid rookie campaign with Racing Bulls, Hadjar was promoted to Red Bull for 2026 where he has scored in all but three grands prix and has been on average closer to Verstappen in qualifying than his predecessors.

There’s irony in a wrist injury and a Red Bull family driver at Zandvoort, as in 2023 Daniel Ricciardo in his first weekend back for the sister team sustained a wrist injury from a crash in free practice – which saw the start of Lawson’s F1 career, having replaced the Australian.

Hadjar while at Racing Bulls, achieved his maiden grand prix podium as well at Zandvoort, claiming a third place finish behind race winner Oscar Piastri and Verstappen.

No timeline has been given for Hadjar’s return to racing.
