The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix culminated in a P5 or fifth, as it’s called, which happened to be the best result so far earned by an Aston Martin car.

This is with only four races done so far in what is the sport’s longest season.

But rather interestingly, the P6, which, as a matter of fact, was also claimed by Aston Martin just the previous race weekend at Suzuka (home to the Japanese GP), happened courtesy a certain Fernando Alonso.

The man fondly regarded as the sport’s Samurai was quick to bounce back to form after enduring a tough penalty at the Melbourne-bound Australian Grand Prix, where it was dubbed the Spaniard’s move hampered George Russell’s race performance completely; the Briton crashing out at a testing corner in his pursuit of the Aston Martin.

However, with a fresh long-term contract under his belt that sees Fernando Alonso committing to a long-term future with Aston Martin, it is clear that the multiple world champion’s confidence is newfound and perhaps peaking.

Ahead of the next Grand Prix, scheduled to take place at China, Fernando Alonso, as per normal, is straightforward and pulling no punches.

He has, if it could be termed so, issued a warning of sorts to both Red Bull and Ferrari, two teams that most expect to dominate the next F1 race.

But why is that? What is the reason due to which Fernando Alonso is brimming with confidence? Moreover, could his Aston Martin AMR 24 a contender for the top spot at Shanghai in what’s to follow?

While we don’t know that just yet, here’s what Alonso had to say ahead of what promises to be yet another exciting race weekend for Formula 1:

“We have a very powerful DRS, and maybe that helps on the long China straight, so let’s see.”

“I think, always, it gives us a little bit more of an opportunity when you have a little bit of deficit on the pace,” exclaimed Fernando Alonso, who scored a sixth most recently at the Suzuka-bound Japanese Grand Prix.

Having said that, when asked to reflect on his views ahead of round five of the current Formula 1 season, then Fernando Alonso said exactly what he felt about the Chinese Grand Prix:

“Mixed conditions or a sprint weekend, all these kinds of things always give you something extra. But it’s gonna be tough.”

When asked about which team might possibly dominate the next Formula 1 Grand Prix, here is what Fernando Alonso had to say:

“I think China, with these long corners, a front-limited circuit – maybe like Australia – I expect Ferrari to be very fast. “But also Red Bull and… let’s see,” exclaimed the track’s most experienced driver, who is a two time world champion of the sport.
