Court Locks Cardile Out of Aston Martin Until July
Ferrari has turned to an Italian court to block former technical director Enrico Cardile from starting at Aston Martin.
After two decades at Maranello, Cardile left last July and has been on gardening leave, set to join Aston Martin this month alongside Adrian Newey for the 2026 car push.
That plan’s unravelled—Ferrari scrapped a rumoured early-start deal with Aston Martin, digging in for a full 12-month hiatus.
La Repubblica reports: “At the request of Ferrari, the Modena Tribunal has ordered its former technical director to immediately cease all forms of collaboration with Aston Martin until July 18.”
The court ruled Cardile and Aston Martin “violated the non-compete commitment,” with an official stating: “The former employee was violating the non-compete commitment undertaken in favour of Ferrari, the purpose of which was precisely to prevent other teams from gaining an unjustified competitive advantage, causing Ferrari irreparable damage.”
Earlier Italian media noted Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll’s fury—Cardile’s delay could hobble their 2026 ambitions.
