Charles Leclerc Optimistic About Carlos Sainz’s Future

If anything, the recent 2024 Australian Grand Prix explained two things, if not more, about a certain Carlos Sainz jr. First being the very fact that the man from Madrid still has the fighting element in him and very much so as to have been able to beat not only his teammate, but in the process, several prominent names on the current F1 grid.

And the other being that Carlos Sainz, much like his teammate, Charles Leclerc is very much in the title fight as far as the ongoing 2024 F1 World championship is concerned.

However, beyond the glitter and high of the recent win, the biggest question concerning the talented driver is with regard to his F1 future. Where might he head to next year once his Ferrari stint comes to a close?

It might have come in a light hearted tone, but in the aftermath of the Australian Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz highlighted the fact that his recent win may help him somewhere to secure a future seat. On that note, the F1 related media asked his teammate as to what he thinks might Sainz’s future chances be.

“I think everybody knows Carlos’ worth in the paddock,” Charles Leclerc said. Furthermore, he alluded to the fact that his teammate, one of one most talented F1 drivers out there has been in red hot form. He would express the following:

“He’s one of the highest-rated drivers in the paddock, and he’s been extremely strong every time he was in a Formula 1 car, and he has shown it multiple times. So I don’t think he’s underrated for that.”

However, that is not all. Leclerc, whose most recent Formula 1 win came well over a year ago at the Austria-bound Spielberg circuit also tried to explain why he is not too worried regarding his teammates F1 future.

He would, in the process of explaining his thoughts, share the following:

“I think everybody knows Carlos’ worth, and that’s why I’ve said many times that I’m not too worried about his future, because I’m sure that many, many team principals are… He doesn’t say it, but for sure they are speaking with him! And I’m sure he will have many opportunities and he’ll just have to make the best choice for his career.”

Though, truth be told, Charles Leclerc was not the only one who came clear on teammate Sainz’s F1 future; one of Carlos’s closest friends on the F1 track and someone who most recently claimed a podium in 2024 also explained his thoughts about the Ferrari driver’s future in the sport.

The young Briton highlighted the following further to Leclerc’s insights:

“I think Charles put it well, to be honest. There’s no reason anyone should think he’s underrated. I think for the people who know him, know what he’s capable of doing, know his effort level, his approach and dedication to wanting to be one of the best, exactly like he’s proved today, and over the last couple of weeks.”
