What Is Carlos Sainz’s Latest Health Status?

Carlos Sainz

The last that he raced here at the very venue, he gathered a modest sixth; that’s despite gathering a not-so-rampant P5 in qualifying. As a matter of fact, the last Formula 1 race that he participated in, which also happens to be the year’s first (in 2024), he bagged a podium. It was to be the only podium that Ferrari would gather in a Red Bull run at Sakhir, just last week.

Had he been out there all hale and hearty, then it’s needless to doubt that Carlos Sainz Jr. would simply have loved to dominate the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix at Jeddah. Alas, this weekend, the famous Spaniard will have to watch the racing action from a hospital bed.

All that he was able to participate in the Motor-sport action was up until FP2 post which, he had to withdraw himself from the Formula 1 Grand Prix activities.

First, it was said that Sainz was battling a stomach bug that needed urgent attention, and later, not too long after FP2 was rendered complete, it became known that Carlos Sainz had to undergo a surgery.

This pertaining to the removal of appendicitis.

Resultantly, Ferrari, who would’ve relished the opportunity of seeing both its drivers preside over a rampant race weekend, had to file in for Carlos Sainz’s replacement; which is how Oliver or “Ollie” Bearman made his F1 debut, taking to the wheels of Ferrari #38 at qualifying on an action-packed Friday evening.

But having said all that, what is the current health status of Carlos Sainz Jr. and what do we know of his illness at this time?

Well, as it turns out, Sainz’s message will bring about a note of positivity for not just Ferrari fans but racing fans overall. He took to Twitter from his hospital bed and shared the following update:

“Underwent a smooth operation today and I’m feeling much better! Thank you for all your kind messages and to everyone that has looked after me these days here in Saudi, specially at the King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital. THANK YOU

Great Quali from

@OllieBearman on his hasty debut (not easy at all) and from Lord Perceval (a.k.a.

@Charles_Leclerc ) Good luck for tomorrow

@ScuderiaFerrari!”

That being said, what will interest Ferrari and the Tifosi about the soon-to-begin F1 Grand Prix will be the very fact that their best man is fighting the most dominant performer out in the front. In what will hopefully be an interesting Red Bull versus Ferrari dogfight, Leclerc will be expected to give a close contest to Verstappen.

As a matter of fact, last evening, Verstappen notched up his maiden career pole at Jeddah, where he has previously won but hadn’t yet secured a front row start. Now that this has been accomplished, one wonders, what will further happen?

Another Red Bull win or a Ferrari stealing the Mad Max-assault at Jeddah? Surely, Carlos Sainz will be watching with much anticipation.
