Captain America Star, Maroon 5 and an Astronaut Top US Grand Prix Guest List

Captain America is headed to Texas. Anthony Mackie, who plays the Marvel hero, is expected in the Circuit of the Americas paddock on Sunday for the US Grand Prix in Austin, alongside fellow Marvel actor Danny Ramirez, according to Motorsport Week. They sit near the top of a guest list that runs from Hollywood to the Olympic podium and, in one case, around the moon.

Their visit ties into Williams’ Marvel partnership, which began with a comic that pits drivers Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz against Doctor Doom.

“We are proud to be bringing these two universes together for the first time,” Luke Timmins, Williams’ director of merchandise and licensing, said when the team announced the deal, according to The Race. A painted show car in Marvel colors sits in the team’s downtown Austin fan zone through Saturday.

The music lineup is just as loaded. Adam Levine’s Maroon 5 had the Friday concert slot at the track, Post Malone takes the stage Saturday and Swedish DJ Alesso closes the weekend Sunday. F1’s own guest program adds country singers and a comedian around town.

Kardashian Watch and the Official Ambassadors

The biggest question mark is Kim Kardashian. She joined her boyfriend, Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton, in Singapore this month, but her Austin attendance isn’t confirmed. Yahoo Entertainment said the same on race weekend, noting she’s still a possibility.

F1’s five official ambassadors are all on the schedule. Comedian Jack Whitehall performs at 9 PM Saturday at The Paddock Bar at Sagebrush, per the Austin American-Statesman. Actor Damson Idris, who starred opposite Brad Pitt in “F1: The Movie,” attends too, and former driver Romain Grosjean, two-time champion Mika Häkkinen and Le Mans great Tom Kristensen complete the group.

Music and Sports Stars Round Out the Weekend

F1’s guest program leans toward country. Orville Peck was booked for Friday at The Paddock Bar at Sagebrush, Kameron Marlowe for Friday and Saturday, and the pop-rock band Train joins the program Sunday.

Athletes from other sports fill the paddock as well. Olympic gold medalist Kelsey Plum was on F1’s Thursday list, swimmer Summer McIntosh and surfer Kai Lenny are TAG Heuer’s guests, and Australian motocross riders Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence stay with Red Bull all weekend.

Ferrari hosts NBA veteran Harrison Barnes on Sunday, and Alpine brings former MotoGP rider Andrea Dovizioso.

An Astronaut, a Car-Show Veteran and the Creators

Mercedes made its biggest guest news before the weekend began. The team named Reid Wiseman, the Artemis II commander who flew around the moon earlier this year, an ambassador on Wednesday. “In both worlds, success is never about one individual,” Wiseman said of F1 and space exploration, per Crash.net.

Alpine hosts Jeremy Clarkson, the “Top Gear” and “The Grand Tour” host, all weekend. Mercedes has Irish comedian Joanne McNally on Saturday and Sunday, and Red Bull brings Irish impressionist Conor Moore. Creators such as Callum Mullin and Chelsea Henriquez round out the list, according to Motorsport Week.

The racing might still steal the show at the US Grand Prix. Kimi Antonelli, 20, leads Mercedes teammate George Russell by 102 points and can clinch the title Sunday with a win, provided Russell finishes ninth or lower and Hamilton fifth or lower. If it happens, Mercedes’ guests will watch the youngest champion in F1 history get crowned in front of their eyes.
