Even before the Formula 1 season came to a halt for the summer break with the conclusion of the action-packed Grand Prix of Belgium, a certain Yuki Tsunoda had done enough to convince his peers and most importantly, his team at the Visa Cash App junior RB team.

The talk and general feeling that Yuki Tsunoda is certainly one of the drivers to watch for the future gathered actual momentum as evidenced by the rich vein of form that the Sagamihara-born came to demonstrate this year thanks to a bevy of impressive performances.

Think, for instance, about his P8 at Monaco this year, followed by a tenth at Great Britain and then, that ninth at Hungary, which was just before Spa-Francorchamps. All of these results came in a car that, for sure, was nowhere close to being the fastest.

That, however, does nowhere mean that Yuki Tsunoda didn’t mean business the moment he burst onto the F1 scene.

It could be argued that what remains, even on this date, one of the most under appreciated facts about the avid Japanese driver is that he had managed scored his first F1 points in what was his his debut race, circa 2021, Bahrain.

It was an event where given his P9, he achieved a better result than compared to Kimi Raikkonen, Lance Stroll and Antonio Giovinazzi on the then-grid.

This time around, thanks to relentless consistency and that desire to perform despite not being armed with the a rollicking fast machine, Yuki Tsunoda, unless one has heard rather incorrectly, been tied to a proper Red Bull seat.

While nothing is confirmed as on date and the same could well be mid-season off paddock grapevine, for the lack of a better expression, the same is being believed given the listless form Checo Perez finds himself in.

Given Perez succeeding in earning a consistent spate of inconsistent results, the second Red Bull seat has, for the longest time, formed a matter of great and even endless discussion. Now, there are talks that the same could actually be filled by Yuki Tsunoda, which won’t be the worst thing to happen in modern Formula 1.

Having said that, whether he gets to go to the senior Red Bull team or not, Yuki, it could be said, isn’t too bothered by the developments or what could, as we just pointed out, be only hearsay.

In a recent media interaction, while he alluded to the fact that he is looking forward to grabbing that big opportunity should the Christian Horner-led Red Bull seat come his way, he also iterated the fact that not an awful lot changes about this given his race-craft and working style. He has been working hard on himself; and that’s pretty much the thing with which he’d continue should the big call-up to Red Bull happen for real.

He won’t be intimidated by the rise in pressure, which would be a real thing, should he get to the big coveted Red Bull seat. And this very maturity makes Yuki Tsunoda a very uncanny and interesting character of Formula 1. Don’t you think?
