There was many things to take away from Monza. Red Bull’s continued struggles, a home win for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, and McLaren’s questionable decisions seeing them fail to convert, their front row lock out from qualifying into a race win. One person who had something to say on the recent scenes at McLaren was senior Formula 1 journalist Will Buxton.

In a very passionate response to what was witnessed in the race, the respected journalist would pull no punches with his views.

Social media has been going wild with their views and opinions on what Buxton’s had to say, and have posted clips from the post race interview such as Formula1ForAll.

Will Buxton Doesn’t Hold Back

“It just doesnt make sense, that you allow your drivers to fight to me, how are McLaren allowing their drivers to be in a position where they are fighting each other, it doesn’t make any sense. You know, if you’ve got a 1-2 in the race, you’re protecting that 1-2 because you’re looking at the constructor’s points that you want to bring in. And you then have to decide which of your drivers is more likely to win the World Championship,” Said Buxton

Buxton would also add “How are you not prioritizing the guy who’s going to make most out of this? How do you not even swap them on the last lap just to get a couple more points? Because you’re not talking about giving away a victory at this point. It’s a second place,”. “I don’t understand what McLaren are doing and I haven’t for months”. Buxton would go on to suggest that there could be something in Piastri’s contract that would prevent this from happening suggesting that the influence of his manager Mark Webber’s well documented issues with being a number 2 driver.

What are your thoughts on the Aftermath of the Italian Grand Prix? Do you agree with the comments of Will Buxton?.
