What Is Lewis Hamilton’s Best Result At The Dutch GP?
For someone who, if you care to remember, was found struggling at the start of the 2024 season, Sir Lewis Hamilton has already won two Grands Prix events, one each at Spa-Francorchamps (home to the Belgium Grand Prix) and the other being Silverstone (home to the British GP). But then not everyone can drive or bounce back in the way that the celebrated Briton can- isn’t it?
One understands the depth of Hamilton’s success in the sport that he’s made richer by participating in it with pure passion by visiting a single piece of stat, since a lot beyond might not be needed to underline his brilliance.
Of the 346 races that Lewis Hamilton has taken part in up to this point, 105 have resulted in victory. That’s nearly a little over a third of the races that he has ever participated in, this being the top flight of Motor Racing.
That being told, perhaps it is time to also reflect on just how good a driver he really is where it comes to the Dutch Grand Prix?
In only a few days from now, the 2024 Dutch GP will begin and shall bring with it, F1 back to our screens and handheld gadgets and endless stream of thoughts.
And while much of the attention will be on a certain Max Verstappen, the only driver on the grid to have struck a hat-trick of wins at the venue (as also the current defending champion), far too many will wonder as to what might Hamilton bring to the fore at Zandvoort.
To get a sense of that, let us examine Lewis Hamilton record at the Dutch GP
For starters, perhaps important to understand that the Dutch Grand Prix returned to the F1 calendar in 2021. That was the first time that a Formula 1 race took place in The Netherlands since last being held in 1985.
But it has since continued every year.
Lewis Hamilton, much like the rest of the nineteen on the grid, has participated at the Dutch Grand Prix for a total of three years, since it wasn’t a part of the F1 calendar for a really long time.
The event wasn’t even on the 2001 year wherein Fernando Alonso, who happens to be the oldest driver on the grid, began his career.
Having said that, as on date, Sir Lewis Hamilton has clinched one podium in his three attempts at Zandvoort, which happens to be the home of the Dutch GP.
Ever since bagging a hard-fought P2 in 2021, the great Stevenage-born racer’s record at the circuit reads a fourth in 2022 and the sixth he earned in 2023.
This time, however, the man who’s recently demonstrated resurgence in the ongoing season having won two of the last Formula 1 Grands Prix, would like to fancy his chances at Zandvoort. And why not?
It’s Hamilton. His racing credentials are akin to resolve of the Great African Elephant among a tribe; you can spot it from afar, and as firm as the iron fisted response of a jet-skiing entrepreneur when faced with economic turbulence.
The big question, therefore, in the next few hours would be whether Hamilton, fresh from the mid-season break can fight back and lead what has seemed an impressive Mercedes to another win. And should that actually happen, it would be the triumph of the Silver Arrows in the land of the Orange Army.
‘Max’imum fun, then, right?
