Lewis Hamilton‘s beloved bulldog, Roscoe, who passed away in September 2025, has been honored by the world of F1 in a special Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) tribute at the 2026 Mexico City GP. The organizers of the race have set up a special altar, known as an ofrenda, to celebrate the memory of some of the sport’s greatest personalities.
In one of the tributes, Roscoe is seen sharing the space with the likes of Ayrton Senna, Enzo Ferrari, Jack Brabham, Juan Manuel Fangio, James Hunt, Patrick Depailler, Pedro Rodriguez, and Jean-Marie Balestre.

Roscoe’s inclusion alongside such great names is a testament to the influence the famous bulldog had, as he became one of the most recognizable pets in the F1 paddock. Appearing frequently alongside Hamilton on race weekends, the English Bulldog had built a following of his own, collecting over a million followers on his Instagram page.
On September 28, 2025, Roscoe passed away after suffering from pneumonia and spending several days on life support. His death marked a particularly difficult phase for Hamilton, who had already been struggling to find any form in the Ferrari car in his debut season.
Fans React As Lewis Hamilton’s Old Pet Receives Special Tribute
In Mexico, it is a tradition in all families to come up with ofrendas to honor the deceased members of the family, with the inclusion of pets being common practice. With this year’s Mexico City GP falling on the same weekend as Día de los Muertos, it was only fitting for the organizers to remember some of the most iconic names in F1 history.
The inclusion of Roscoe, meanwhile, is far from a surprise, given the Mexican GP has also honored the beloved bulldog during last year’s race. While the 2025 outing did not feature any ofrendas, Roscoe was still remembered for his influence.
And this year’s inclusion touched the hearts of many fans, who couldn’t hold back from sharing their emotions on social media.
“Oh Roscoe, we miss you,” is what one fan wrote on X, while another stated that the gesture was a “lovely thought.”

Over on Reddit, one fan commented, “Roscoe never raced a single lap, but somehow became one of the most loved faces in the paddock. Mexico absolutely nailed this tribute.”
Meanwhile, one fan felt that the gesture was “so sweet of them” and that “Lewis (Hamilton) will love it.”
Lewis Hamilton Shared an Emotional Message on the Death Anniversary of Roscoe
It has been a little over a year since Roscoe died at age 12 after suffering from pneumonia, and the first anniversary of his passing was a reminder of one of the toughest phases of life for Hamilton. Honoring the legacy of the bulldog, the Ferrari driver took to his social media platforms to issue a touching tribute to his long-time pet.

Describing the decision to put Roscoe to sleep as the hardest decision of his life, the 41-year-old revealed that there isn’t a single day when he doesn’t wish that Roscoe was still with him. Remembering Roscoe’s sister Coco, who passed away earlier, Hamilton said that while their passing makes him sad, he will always be grateful for the time he shared with them.
The memories he has with them make for some of the happiest days of his life, and remembering them brought a huge smile to his face. The British driver wrapped up his tribute by thanking the fans for their overwhelming support, as it also showed him just how much everyone loved Roscoe.
