From Silver To Red: Lewis Hamilton Feeling Invigorated Since Ferrari Switch
Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion, made a stunning entrance at the F1 75 Live event held at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday. The British racing icon, who recently made the shock move from Mercedes to Ferrari, appeared on stage alongside his new teammate, Charles Leclerc, and team principal, Fred Vasseur, as the Scuderia unveiled their 2025 challenger, the SF-25.
Greeted by thunderous applause from the packed crowd, Hamilton exuded energy and enthusiasm. “How you doing London? You good?” he asked, before expressing his pride in being a part of the Ferrari team. “Good evening, everyone. Such a great night to be here amongst all of you.”
When asked to describe his mindset for the upcoming season in a single word, Hamilton chose “invigorated.” He elaborated, saying, “I think the word I’m thinking of is invigorated because I feel so full of life with so much energy, because everything’s new. Just focused on what’s up ahead. I’m so proud to be a part of the team, it’s something new and exciting for me. Thank you for all being here.”
The event marked Hamilton’s first public appearance in Ferrari colors since announcing his unexpected departure from Mercedes last year. Although he had privately tested for the Italian team in Barcelona last month, where he experienced a minor crash, the F1 75 Live event provided fans with their first glimpse of the British driver in his new red uniform.
Toto Wolff, the team principal of Mercedes, was present at the event and embraced Hamilton before the festivities began. Wolff likened seeing his former driver in Ferrari’s iconic red to witnessing a divorced partner in a new relationship, underlining the significance of Hamilton’s move.
F1 75 Live, an unprecedented event commemorating 75 years of Formula 1, brought together all 10 teams, 20 drivers, and their respective bosses. Each team took the opportunity to launch their liveries for the 2025 season, giving fans a taste of what to expect on the grid.
While the O2 Arena event provided a platform for Hamilton’s first public appearance as a Ferrari driver, the team is set to hold a more intimate season launch at their headquarters in Maranello, Italy, on Wednesday. It is expected that Hamilton will delve deeper into his thoughts and feelings about his new team and the challenges that lie ahead.
With preseason testing scheduled for February 26-28 and the season opener, the Australian Grand Prix, taking place from March 14-16, anticipation is building for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in Lewis Hamilton’s illustrious career. As the Formula 1 world eagerly awaits the first race of the 2025 season, all eyes will be on the British champion as he seeks to add to his impressive tally of seven world titles, this time in the iconic red of Ferrari.
