Franco Colapinto went out of his way to say that he would not like to go shopping with Lewis Hamilton. The Argentine driver joked that Hamilton spends more money than he can afford and would be the last one he would go purchasing something with.
“Definitely not Lewis. Lewis will be the last one, he will make me spend so much money. Lewis spends so much I can’t afford,” Colapinto said when answering a question about who he would like to go shopping with during the Mexican Grand Prix.

Colapinto and Hamilton were joined on the stage by their teammates, Pierre Gasly and Charles Leclerc, during a fan engagement activity during the Mexican GP this weekend. The four drivers then shared a hilarious conversation about going shopping together, much to the delight of the fans.
Lewis Hamilton Claims he ‘Hates Shopping’
During the aforementioned conversation, Hamilton responded to Colapinto’s tongue-in-cheek remarks about him, saying that he actually does not like shopping at all. The seven-time world champion also revealed that he prefers to shop online rather than at physical stores.
“I hate shopping, I can’t stand shopping. I shop online. I think we’ll all be pretty bad!” said Hamilton.
Hamilton’s admission makes for interesting reading, as the Briton is one of the only drivers on the current F1 grid who loves fashion and is known to have a distinct style. For example, Hamilton caught many people’s attention at the Italian GP this year, where he arrived in a classy three-piece suit and an overcoat to mark the occasion of Ferrari’s home race.
Lewis Hamilton Has Claimed His Future Beyond F1 is in Fashion
In an earlier interview, Hamilton said his future beyond F1 is likely to be in the fashion industry. The 41-year-old is known to be an enthusiast of the fashion industry, and has even co-chaired the 2025 Met Gala.
“I would say so,” Hamilton said when asked by The Times if his future beyond F1 is in fashion.
Hamilton also added that he fought with his team bosses over the years because he chose to arrive at F1 weekends in his own clothes rather than team clothing.

“They were like, ‘You have to arrive in team clothing.’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, but I’ll change into team clothing. You’ll be seeing me in team clothing all weekend. But when I arrive I want to wear my own clothes. It’s important to me.’
“This is my confidence thing. There’s nothing worse than being restricted in terms of who you want to be,” he added.

In the same interview, Hamilton also claimed that he believed some of the newer drivers in F1, namely Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli, Racing Bull’s Liam Lawson and former Sauber driver Zhou Guanyu, had started to express themselves through fashion in the paddock.
