One lucky Fernando Alonso fan has secured a lifetime opportunity to experience the thrill of motorsports from the passenger seat alongside the Spaniard. An anonymous bidder won a charity auction after paying more than €13,300 (around $15,000) for two high-speed laps with Alonso in a 610-horsepower Aston Martin DTM car.

The experience is organized in partnership with JOOPITER. It will take place at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain on December 16. The winner will get to experience the acceleration and G-forces of the high-performance machine while Alonso takes them around the circuit. If the advertised DTM car is unavailable, an alternative vehicle may be provided.

In addition to the two-hot lap passenger ride, the auction winner will also receive a signed Adidas racing suit from Alonso, a Bell helmet, and footage documenting the experience. A part of the proceeds will go to the Fernando Alonso Foundation.

Ahead of the auction, the two-time Formula 1 world champion spoke about his continued passion for motorsport. He explained why he wanted to offer fans an opportunity to experience racing from such a close perspective.

“After more than twenty years in Formula 1, my passion for the sport is still the same,” Alonso told JOOPITER. “When I am alone in the car, I am simply striving for perfection in every single lap ahead of me.

“This SpeedXperience is my way of opening that door to someone who loves this sport as much as I do. I’m happy to partner with JOOPITER for this special sale, giving someone the opportunity to experience g-forces and accelerations up close while supporting Fernando Alonso Foundation, a cause that is important to me.”

The veteran driver is debuting a specially designed Pepperstone helmet at the 2026 Mexican Grand Prix. The design celebrates his newly announced multi-year expansion role as a global ambassador for the online trading provider starting from 2027.

Aston Martin showcased the design in a video shared on their Instagram handle @astonmartinf1 ahead of Sunday’s Mexican GP.

Watch the helmet design:

The predominantly blue design features a bold yellow band wrapping around the profile, with a decorated skull integrated into the design, paying tribute to Mexico’s traditional Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) imagery.

“I feel very proud, you know, with the helmet that we designed with Pepperstone,” Alonso reflected on the design.

“First, with the colors, trying to represent my blue and yellow colors, but also with the local culture, you know, in Mexico, and everything, trying to fit everything together in one helmet. So I think the result is great. Hopefully the people will enjoy and celebrate the partnership with Pepperstone, Aston Martin and myself.”

The special helmet will be on full display throughout the Mexican Grand Prix weekend, which starts with free practice on Friday and ends with the 71-lap race on Sunday, November 1.
