Drugovich and Pourchaire set for title duel
FIA Formula 2 returns to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the first-time since 2020 for Round 11 of the year, with just 21-points separating Felipe Drugovich and Théo Pourchaire at the top of the standings.
Frenchman Pourchaire took an important victory in the Feature Race in Hungary to reduce the advantage Brazil’s Drugovich held.
The series’ leading pair both have three Feature Race wins in 2022, with round 11 at Spa the first of three rounds in as many weekends.
And the battle is not just limited to the Drivers’ Standings, with Drugovich’s MP Motorsport chasing Pourchaire’s ART Grand Prix in the Teams’ Standings, a battle also containing Carlin, who have Logan Sargeant as an outside chance in the Drivers’ table.
With three-quarters of the remaining races coming in the next month, it is crucial for all teams and drivers to make the very most of each session on track.
For this weekend there are several driver changes.
Campos welcome back Ralph Boschung from injury as Lirim Zendeli substitutes for the banned Olli Caldwell.
Tatiana Calderón returns to F2 in place of Cem Bölükbasi at Charouz Racing System, Jake Hughes has left Van Amersfoort Racing, with David Beckman taking his seat for the remainder of the season.
Qualifying is on Friday at 18:30CEST, the 45 minute+1lap Sprint Race begins at 18:00CEST on Saturday and lights out for Sunday’s Feature Race is at 10:20CEST.
