Aston Martin has pulled the curtain back on their new challenger, the AMR25, as they gear up for the 2025 Formula 1 season. The online reveal showcased a car that results from cutting-edge design and an unwavering determination to push the boundaries of performance.

From the carefully sculpted bodywork to the delicate calibration of components, the team’s focus for the 2025 season has been on creating a car that is more driveable, predictable, and stable, allowing drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso to push the limits on the track.

Aerodynamics Director Eric Blandin emphasized the team’s approach, stating, “For 2025, we’ve really focused on driveability. We’ve pushed hard to make the car a lot more benign.”

The AMR25 is an evolution of its predecessor, with more than 90 per cent of its aerodynamic surfaces differing from the previous year’s car. Changes to the front and rear wings, sidepods, engine cover, and floor have enabled the team to craft a compliant and refined racecar.

Team principal and CEO Andy Cowell highlighted the lessons learned from the past and the team’s determination to improve. “For this year’s car we’ve really taken on board the lessons and feedback from last season. We’ve focused on creating a more driveable car for Lance and Fernando and we’ve pushed hard to make it more benign.”

The AMR25 boasts impressive performance figures, with a power output of 1000bhp, acceleration from 0-160km/h in just 3.7 seconds, and an overall weight of 798kg.

Fernando Alonso expressed his confidence in the team’s progress, saying, “We learnt a lot in 2024 and the team have been using that as a driving force as we head into this season with the AMR25. The competition is going to be very tight this year in the last year of the current regulations, but I know the team have been working hard at the AMRTC [Aston Martin Racing Technology Centre] to make sure we are ready.”

While design guru Adrian Newey has joined Aston Martin from Red Bull, his influence will not be seen on the AMR25, as he does not start work until early March. Nevertheless, the team remains optimistic about their chances in the upcoming season.

Cowell acknowledged the competitive nature of the field and the challenges that lie ahead, especially with the impending regulation changes in 2026. “We expect it to be a tight and competitive field from the get-go in Australia, so we know it won’t be easy. Our aims are realistic with a view to how we can continually improve in all areas, especially as we, like all teams, approach a vital shake-up of the regulations in 2026.”

The AMR25 will make its on-track debut during a promotional filming day in Bahrain on Monday, providing the team with 200km of track running before they participate in preseason testing from Wednesday to Friday.
