What Can We Expect from A Nevada Formula 1 Night Race In 2023?

Las Vegas Grand Prix
Las Vegas Grand Prix

The new Formula 1 owners, Liberty Media, put their money where their mouth is and launched a new Grand Prix for the 2023 racing season. How about Las Vegas if you thought Monaco was a thrilling Grand Prix?

The first-ever racing event in Nevada will take place in November 2023 in Sin City. Hamilton, Verstappen & Co. will tackle 6.12km and 14 bends in one lap of this illustrious Grand Prix while racing at speeds exceeding 300kph. The group will pass some of the most well-known Las Vegas landmarks, including Caesars Palace, the Bellagio, and the Venetian.

Let’s examine the main details surrounding the third Grand Prix on American territory and what to anticipate in November next year.

Nevada Sports Betting Operators Anticipate Being Busy

There will undoubtedly be sports betting on that Saturday night while the Las Vegas Grand Prix unfolds. When Formula 1 is in town, you might be curious if you can wager as you would on any other weekend. The answer is yes.

The good news is that sports bookmakers won’t close their doors during the Grand Prix. On the Contrary, it is anticipated to be one of the busiest weekends in Las Vegas.

For the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix, the first Formula One race in the city since 1982 when events were conducted in the parking lot of Caesars Palace, several sports betting operators will be working around the clock to make odds accessible.

The defending F1 champion and current points leader, Max Verstappen, is the favorite for the race in November of next year. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton trail behind Verstappen and the bookmakers’ favorites.

There are several legitimate betting sites that Nevada-based gamblers can use to wager on their preferred races and drivers. But there are a few that we suggest utilizing. Check out this outstanding list of the best Nevada sports betting sites from Betting.us to find the right sportsbook for you.

Date and Location

Although no specific dates were given, it is expected that the new American event will be held between the Mexican and Brazilian Grand Prix, which would place the date in very early November.

Not doing so would sandwich the race between Brazil and Abu Dhabi too close to Thanksgiving in the United States.

Fully Booking of Hotels

The majority of the hotels along the strip will be completely booked months in advance, and rates are anticipated to soar that weekend.

Unfortunately, most hotels’ booking calendars aren’t even open as of this writing, so finding a place to stay requires a lot of luck, perseverance, or contacts.

Track Facts and Layout

Throughout the year, Las Vegas is booming, with Saturday evenings being the busiest. It’s therefore not surprising that the organizers chose to deviate from the custom of Sunday races and make Las Vegas a Saturday night race.

The only other street circuit longer than the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which is 6.12 kilometers, in 2022 is Spa-Francorchamps. The track will include 14 turns, 3 straightaways, and 2 DRS zones to provide enough overtaking opportunities for the drivers.

The drivers will have the adequate ground speed to compete on the break after each straight when travelling at high speeds.

According to Formula 1, the course is built with a single chicane section and a series of fast turns. There are three straightaways, and more than 50 laps in the proposed plan.

That translates to a race distance of 190 miles, which will probably consume the whole two-hour time restriction established by the FIA.

In one of the images released by Liberty Media, the Bellagio Hotel, The Venetian, Treasure Island, and other well-known structures can be seen as the track layout winds in and out of the iconic Vegas Strip.

Incredible Partnerships

Formula 1 will be collaborating with some of the top entertainment brands in the US to promote the race.

These brands include Live Nation Entertainment, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), Founding Partners Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts International, Wynn Las Vegas, Presenting Partners MSG Sphere, Resorts World Las Vegas, The Venetian Resort, and Liberty Media.

With a third race in the US, Formula 1 will experience a momentous occasion that highlights the sport’s enormous popularity and expansion.

Unmatched Entertainment

It’s clear that F1 management is seeking out hot spots with lots of potential for entertainment, as is the case with Miami—and maybe to some extent with Austin.

Offering more than just racing appears to be Liberty Media’s strategy as it makes extra efforts to increase F1’s audience and entice new, younger fans, whether through television, online or in-person at races.

High-Security Zone

Las Vegas will become a high-security area just based on experience at the Monaco GP. It will be significantly more challenging to get around, and several locations could be completely closed off or only accessible to F1 ticket holders.

You can also choose to stay away during that weekend if Formula 1 is not your sport and you don’t enjoy loud noises.

Choose a different weekend if you only want to visit Las Vegas to gamble and have no interest in Formula 1. When F1 mania passes, you can play slots and casino games online. If you’ve got itchy palms, before returning to the actual machines and tables.

But even for Las Vegas, the final weekend in November 2023 will be something remarkable. Get your daily dose of adrenaline at the casinos and the racetrack if you don’t mind spending a little bit more than usual and if you can manage the increased security in and around the city.

Although the length of the deal between F1 and the city and its promoters is still unknown, we assume that it may not be very lengthy. Theoretically, given how difficult and expensive it is to close down Las Vegas’ (if not the nation’s) most lucrative street, this agreement may even be predicated on a one-time trial basis.

Casinos enjoy generating money, so if Formula One does not prove to be the moneymaker they had hoped, they probably won’t want to close the Strip again.
