Liam Lawson Might Not Have The Brightest Moment At COTA

There are some drivers who are meant to dominate. There are the likes of Sebastian Vettel, once Ricciardo’s teammate at Red Bull and then, Max Verstappen himself, who’d leave little the imagination when making a move or two in what has been a fascinating career.

Then, there are drivers who push the envelope of racing itself, such as Sir Lewis Hamilton, whose achievements are not just envy inspiring but indicative of an era where Silver Arrows were pure gold. Were they not?

At a time where one thought that no one could even come close to usurping the great German legend’s number of world championships, along came the man from Stevenage and someone, who with his fetish for consistency has become the sport’s highest achiever.

He recently broke Kimi Raikkonen’s record for the must Grand Prix starts; the Finn ended his career with 349.

But is that all?

Quite possibly, there’s this other league of racers who are both young and fast and yet, simple and unassuming. Perhaps might not be wrong to say that a certain Liam Lawson belongs to this special league.

It’s special in that Liam Lawson wasted no time whatsoever in announcing his indications as soon as he arrived on the grid, which was circa Dutch GP (post free practice). But then life’s actually come full circle for the man who once replaced Ricciardo as of the last year at Zandvoort (when the Honeybadger rammed into the walls in the build-up to the race weekend).

From having been a racing substitute to now taking full control of the other seat at the widely-known VISA Cash app Red team, Liam Lawson is here to stay and make an impact.

As a matter of fact, the handsome Kiwi was seen scoring points in what was just his third-ever Formula 1 Grand Prix. Liam Lawson would score a fighting ninth in just his third F1 race and in so doing, went onto prove that useful points weren’t actually out of his reach/ grasp.

This time around, as Liam Lawson is, once again, replacing Daniel Ricciardo, there’s a big possible chance that the youngster finds himself marked for a penalty.

So the key question is, what has happened and what led to all of this? The engine allocation for the driver in the other Red Bull junior team aka the Visa Cash app team points to a precarious situation. And it’s that the driver of that particular car might have to undergo a penalty on account of a fresh engine allocation.

In an essence, whatever dictums or hence, circumstances that were meant for Ricciardo, will now, be borne by his replacement, which as it turns out, is Liam Lawson.

Surely, not the happiest way in which to mark a promising journey’s comeback race. But then, one can’t do much at all.
